Air Conditioning

Vehicle Air Conditioning

Your vehicle’s air conditioning (A/C) provides a fresh and cool environment inside the vehicle during hot spells of weather.  The A/C system can work better with regular replacements of the cabin (pollen / dust / micro) filter element to filter out pollution, debris and bacteria, etc from the outside air that would otherwise contaminate the air that is breathed inside your vehicle cabin (where the drivers and passengers sit).  This can help with improving general air quality inside the vehicle and reducing allergies.

Over time, the A/C system uses its refrigerant material but can also lose charge due to system leaks or faults and thus requires maintenance or recharging in order to function correctly. If your A/C system does not function normally, it may cause system failures, reduce air circulation, blowing out of warm air through the vents or you may even notice an unpleasant smell in the cabin.

Air Conditioning tips

Regardless of the weather conditions and temperature outside, it is actually recommended to use your A/C even occasionally to keep the system lubricated and ‘freed-up’ and therefore prolonging and maintaining its life, as lack of use itself can cause issues with the A/C system such as system and component breakdowns and refrigerant leaks.

Further, apart from keeping you cool in hot weather, the A/C can actually demist your windscreen faster in winter as it generates dry air to demist the screen effectively as opposed to using humid air via the blowers.

Air Conditioning refill / regas / recharge

At Tyrecom Autos, we offer a dedicated quality vehicle air conditioning recharge / refill / regas service.
  • We use advanced newer A/C technology
  • Pressure checks your system for leaks
  • Removes and replaces the refrigerant material
  • Removes and replaces the lubricant
  • You will be charged if your system refills and takes the refrigerant material and lubricant.

Please Note

If your vehicle does not accept the A/C material and has an obvious leak or issue and it fails the pressure check, the process is paused and you will not be charged a fee.

However, due to the nature and setup of A/C systems, if you have a LESS obvious leak (for example small leaks due to worn seals, loose joints, faulty components, etc), your A/C system may accept the recharge immediately but leak afterwards. These types of faults can only become apparent and identified AFTER the first refill where the system becomes pressurised.  On these rare occasions if your system loses the first batch of material and lubricant over time, you may be charged again for another refill after any potential issues have been resolved.

Please inform us of obvious issues that you have noticed or losses / seepages so we can help you plan better and budget for what to expect and the possible remedies.

A/C and the Cabin / Micro / Dust / Pollen Filter

The cabin (pollen / micro) filter should not be confused with the air filter (which regulates air flow to the engine). Regular cabin filter replacement is needed for the A/C system to work effectively but is often overlooked and ignored by many garages and service centres as they can be located in awkward ‘hard to reach’ places such as behind the glove box, footwells or under the bonnet by the scuttle panel.  Due to its core function for cleansing the air, the cabin filter is often recommended to be changed as regularly as the essential engine oil change! This is often every 12-24 months depending on the vehicle make and model.  Check your service / maintenance booklet for changing intervals.

Air Conditioning

For your peace of mind, TyreCom Autos as STANDARD in line with manufacturer service intervals, recommend and include the changing of the cabin filter regardless of it is a part of the more basic interim service or a full service.
